Mythos & Marrow

By invitation or application

The story you carry, the body that carries it, and a mirror for who you’re becoming

Six months of somatic facilitation, archetypal and mythic work, and close relational accompaniment, with three portraits made along the way: as you set out, in the in-between, and at your return.

A living container, shaped by what surfaces in you.

A veiled marble sculpture

A season of becoming, held from beginning to end.

Mythos & Marrow is a relationship that lasts six months. The work moves at the pace your system needs, with someone beside you the whole way: through the breakthroughs, and through the slower stretch after, when what moved has to hold in your everyday life.

All of the practice is alive in this container. Somatic work is the foundation, and your story runs through all of it. You tell it at the beginning and it keeps returning, because the body carries it too. Beneath it runs a symbolic layer: the myths, archetypes, and images already at work in your life. We learn to read that layer together, and it shapes where the container goes and what the portraits become.

A skilled companion who enters the depths with you — holding the container while you do the work.

This is for the person who wants to be met in the body, the story, and the image, and accompanied through a season of change long enough to take root.

How six months unfolds.

The phases below are the shape the work tends to take, and it stays responsive to what surfaces in you.

  1. IThe BeginningOrienting

The container opens with closer contact while we establish safety, build your somatic vocabulary, and learn how your particular system moves. This is where you first tell me your story, at your own pace. By the time the deeper work begins, you are resourced, with the ground laid and the relationship established. This is also when your first portrait session happens — your own intentional self-portrait, a true starting point. If you'd like, I can also make a simple portrait of you then.

  2. IIThe DepthsThe Work

Somatic sessions every two weeks become the rhythm. This is where most of the movement happens — somatic work with what arises, parts work, shadow and archetypal exploration, and the slow business of letting the body set down what it has been carrying. Between sessions you can reach me — within clear, agreed limits, so the support is real and neither of us is on call. As the work goes on, the myths and archetypes moving through your story come clearer. More than one may surface, and one can give way to another. When they come clear, the second portrait is made — the image of who is emerging. An optional mid-container pause for integration is available if your system asks for it.

  3. IIIThe CloseIntegration & Return

As the container completes, the work turns toward integration — making what moved durable, weaving it into the life you return to, so it lasts beyond our time together. And the third portrait is made, at your return. You leave with artifacts — images and, if you choose, a mythos booklet — that witness the passage and hold its memory, that you can return to when the old stories try to tell you nothing changed.

Three moments, witnessed.

A passage has a before, a middle, and an after, so there are three. The first marks the beginning. The other two arrive when the work is ready for them, rather than on a date chosen in advance.

I

Setting Out

At the start. You take this one yourself: an intentional self-portrait, made by your own hand and your own eye. It is the honest starting point, and it belongs to you entirely.

If you’d like, I can also make a simple portrait of you at the start. Entirely your choice.

II

The In-Between

Midway through the descent. When the symbols at work in your story come clear, we build the world of this portrait around them. It is the image of something in you that has not finished arriving.

III

The Return

At the close. Made in whatever register is true to you now, from the plainest to the most staged. A marker that a threshold was crossed, and an image to come back to.

Three portraits follow the shape of a rite of passage: leaving, the in-between, and return.

The three stages of a rite of passage: separation, leaving what was; threshold, between, not yet; return, bringing it home. After Arnold van Gennep, The Rites of Passage, 1909.

Everything the container holds.

The container

  • Six-month sustained relationship
  • Somatic sessions every two weeks — the steady rhythm the body needs to trust the work
  • A closer opening phase, while you learn the language of your own body and we build the ground to stand on
  • Support between sessions, so the work does not stop when a session ends
  • A pause partway through, if your system asks for one
  • Your story as the through-line — told in the opening phase and returned to throughout
  • Archetypal and mythic work — reading the symbolic layer of your story, and giving what is moving in you a shape large enough to hold it

The photography & artifacts

  • Three portraits — as you set out, in the in-between, and at your return
  • A curated gallery from each session
  • Archival prints, made to be held and kept
  • Optional add-on: a Mythos booklet — a printed keepsake weaving your portraits together with the story, archetypes, and turning points of your container (distinct from the loose prints; priced separately)
  • Optional: Wall art, albums, extended artifact collection
  • Local clients

Default to in-person sessions with online flexibility as needed. Shoots happen locally — or on-location at a destination of your choosing, with travel and related costs covered by the client, if you'd like a setting that matters to your story.

  • Distance clients

Default to online sessions, with the in-person portraits arranged through travel — to you, to me, or a meaningful location somewhere in between. Travel and related costs are covered by the client, plus a travel fee, arranged transparently in advance.

In every rite of passage there is someone whose task is to reflect the passage back — so you can see what you have done.

I do that with a camera.

This container is for you if

You want time: a season long enough for the work to land. You want depth, closeness, and images that witness it, something to hold onto when the work is done. Something in you is asking to be named and claimed, and you want to be held, skillfully, the whole way through.

Before you go further — the line I hold.

I am trained so that trauma-related material can be met and worked with as it arises. I am not a licensed therapist, and this is not therapy — though it can be deeply therapeutic. This work is for people who are stable enough to explore, not for those in acute crisis. When something needs licensed clinical care, I will say so and help you find it.
